Spring Fever
Well, guys, I don’t know what the weather is like where you are, but I’ve got spring fever and nothing to say.
It is sunny and gorgeous and the perfect temperature outside my house. The SO just hung up the hammock in the back yard. The pug wants very badly for me to grab a book and go sit in it with her.
And never mind the fact that I haven’t shown up for my revision project since 4.17. How many days ago was that? Five days. Yeesh. Priority #1 for tomorrow: show up for the revision project.
In other news, I have been showing up for the fresh words project. As of today, I’ve logged 49,084 words out of a projected 76,000. This little progress app thing says I’m expected to finish by May 13th.
How cool would that be?
If I get my act back together (and I will!), I can finish the revision project (well, this round anyway, which might be the last—wish me luck) by May 13th, too, so says the app.
Maybe I should talk about this app I found. I like it. It’s called Progress. I have it on Mac. Google says there’s something similar for other computers. Anyway, I like it because I just leave it open on my desktop, and every time I sit down at my computer I see it in the top right corner, showing me in clear, pill-capsule color that those little incremental baby steps I take every day, even though they feel piddly, are actually adding up to something.
When you’re halfway done, or three-quarters done, or, jeez, the worst is a third done with your project, it can feel overwhelming how much is left to do. Especially if it’s been a while or it’s not going as smoothly as you know it can. Any little reward, any little motivator is appreciated. I do stickers, too. But this app… it’s right there. It’s whispering, “Hey… Meg… come log your words.”
And of course to log them, I have to do them.
The secret, though, to why I think I’m liking this app so well is that I have a deadline pill count-downer too. It’s yellow. It says I have twenty-two days until my goal.
It adds a sense of urgency to my sense of satisfaction.
If spring fever’s got you, too, you might try it.

WWT Tool Kit Craft Card
As mentioned before, I’m making a deck of craft cards to quickly remind myself of techniques while also having a convenient place to keep track of elements like character, conflict, and theme specific to each story. This week’s card follows on last week’s card.
Thank you for reading!
I hope this helped you, and I hope your writing goes well this week.
Keep at it,
Megan
