Slow Progress
What with the heat, and the last part of my story needing a revision and not just a cleanup, and my revision skills being superduper slow, I am making very . . . sloooow . . . progress.
But.
Slow progress is better than no progress. And when you start worrying about the speed of your progress, quite often than can lead to making no progress. At least in my experience.
So I’m not worried about it. Actually, I am congratulating myself on showing up.
You’re here, Meg! Good job!
You fixed a scene, Meg! Good job!
I have one of those programmable talking buttons I hit every time I make a bit of progress so it can tell me good job. I’m making my own positive feedback loop. It’s strange how much it helps.
Anyway, showing up has required putting my new-words project on hiatus, but I think it’s worth it. This story will be done soon. Even at the current revision pace.
I just finished Sequence 7, the lead-up to the climax. The character who needs to be there is now primed to go to the showdown. Hooray! It’s meant adding new words, which is great, because Part 4 needed some.
Is it any good? I don’t know.
Is it bad? No. I think I can confidently say that it doesn’t suck. Doesn’t Suck is a low bar. I think we’ve met it.
How long until you’re done? I don’t know. Like I said, it’s going slow.
But!
It’s getter faster by the day.
Will that trend continue? I don’t know.
I don’t know, I don’t know, I don’t know.
Why do we insist on knowing? I don’t know.
But, hey, I’ve got more writing revising to do, so I’ll catch you later.

WWT Tool Kit Craft Card
As mentioned before, I’m making a deck of craft cards to quickly remind myself of techniques while also having a convenient place to keep track of elements like character, conflict, and theme specific to each story. This week’s card is reminder about the elements of a logline.
