I don’t know what it is about the heat, but it makes me feel like doing nothing. My office is on the top floor and on the west side of a south-facing/sun-facing building, so it gets particularly hot in here. I work on a desktop. (Love my extra-wide screen, although my eyes are less thrilled.) I have an old laptop, too, but I just tried to access my documents from it and apparently they’re no longer compatible with its programs. Yay.
My solution for today?
I’m kicking it old school. I printed off the section of story I’m revising, four pages to a sheet, and grabbed myself a blue pen. The downsides are that I tend to be more nitpicky with my language when I have a pen in hand and it takes at least twice as long to do the same amount of work and I will probably get bored of the tedium long before I get to the end of my printing.
But the upside is worth it: I’m making progress.
And if that progress comes in fits and starts intermingled with naps instead of one long session like I can do on my desktop on a chill winter day, whatever. It’s still progress.
Thank you for reading!
I hope this helped you, and I hope your writing goes well this week.
Keep at it,
Megan
